Do you have something from your past that you keep holding onto, something from your childhood home or your school days? What memories or connections does it hold for you? Put these thoughts in writing with award winning essayist, Aine Greaney.

Áine Greaney was raised on a farm in County Mayo, but in 1986 she moved to the United States to live in Boston. Greaney works as an editor and writer with a number of books, essays, articles and short stories published across the US, the UK and Ireland. Greaney has worked on National Public Radio, Boston as well as having her work appear in The Boston Globe Magazine, The Feminist Wire, Forbes Women and Salon.com. She lives, with her husband, in Newburyport, Massachusetts.

Learn to use our shop tools safely, be certified to use the shop alone, and begin making a really nice cutting board. You will learn about choosing wood and doing a glue up. You can then learn to use the saws, planer and drill press.

For ages 8+

Make a pair of pajama pants! Learn to choose fabric, use a pattern, measure, cut, and sew. Should have taken introductory class or used a sewing machine at least once before.

For ages 8+

Take advantage of our beginner friendly sewing class to learn some skills and produce a cute drawstring bag. You will learn to read and cut a pattern, operate the sewing machine and create a project.

Learn to hand paint beautiful wine glasses with acrylic paint. All supplies included.

Spoon carving has become somewhat of a craze, and for good reason; spoons are truly amazing pieces of functional sculpture.  This one-day course will introduce students to the world of Slöjd, or Swedish handcraft, teach them how to safely and efficiently use both slöjd and hook knives, and explore decorative traditions like chip carving and kolrosing. 

Students who have taken the spreader and/or spatula class will find many new challenges in this course, as design considerations, changing grain direction and the hollowing process definitely bring new demands.  That said, there are no prerequisites for this class. 

All students will be given two pre-axed spoon blanks.  Loaner tools will be available, though Slöjd knives (Mora 106 and 120) and hook knives (Mora 164) will also be for sale.  If you have your own tools, by all means bring them. 

No experience necessary, and so long as you can easily open a jar of spaghetti sauce, you have sufficient hand strength.
